As the Raptors tie up the series at 2-2 with the 76ers the glaring part of this game is surprising. Sadly it wasnt Kawhi’s 39 point completely dominant performance. Rather it was how bad the Sixers were, mainly Tobias Harris. But real quick look how cold Kawhi is.
The Sixers are a puzzle that when you complete it you realize you used all the pieces, it’s the shape it’s supposed to be but it doesnt look like the picture on the box. Joel Embiid had a poor performance, yes you can say well he was under the weather but this is a generation of ball players that were spoon fed the flu game. Someone that will more than likely come in the top five of MVP voting cant put up 7 points in a playoff game. The Sixers will never win a game in which Ben Simmons outscores Joel. I think playing Boban instead of a 30% Joel Embiid wins this game, instead the series is tied and the Raptors regain home court.
For Tobias Harris to have this bad of a shot chart is criminal.
7 for 23 from the field and 2 from 13 from three is atrocious. This man needs to have his fingers broken, this is a 76ers playoff record for most missed 3 pointers. I get the law of averages and anybody can heat up but after 2-8 you didnt think “shit I might not have it tonight?” Nope its Toby time. Landry Shamet probably makes those shots. Everybody has bad games but it’s the playoffs and you are a rental you either have your bad games in the regular season or you have a bad game when everyone else goes off. Well guess what you were the guy that needed to go off. Jimmy Butler is out here showing hes a man, he can go get a max anywhere in the league next year, while Tobias is playing himself into a max from the Suns or the Cavs.
This also goes to show you just how useless a star that cant shoot is. No matter how good a team you build around Ben if he cant sink anything from outside the lane hes useless. Being a playmaker is great, it worked for Rondo for years and then even he learned to shoot. I’m glad Ben is a good finisher and passer but when Marc Gasol and Ibaka are on the floor you arent getting to the lane. Teams can play 4 on 5 against Ben and it is going to hold the 76ers back until the end of time.
I hate the Warriors however they deserve everything they have. Beyond Steph Currys dislocated finger and beyond James Hardens poked eye, the Warriors are simply better. Exactly why they should dominate this series.
I dont feel bad for the Rockets, you want to appeal last years game seven? Cool, they missed 81 calls? Yall tripping. Just because James Harden jumps to conclusions everytime he shoots doesnt mean he got fouled. Stop flopping and just win the game. Those Kobe, Shap chamionshops didnt care about fouls, they just went out and won by 20 every game. One foul can’t change your game when you’re dominating, just a fun fact. Same thing in any other sport, one missed holding call cant ruin your game when you’re winning by 14. My main verdict is dont rely on the refs to win you the game, rely on yourself.
I cant blame this entire loss on Kyle Lowry since Drake was in attendance but what the fuck are you doing?
I like a fancy play, I like a no look pass but this the playoffs. Why did Kyle Lowry even have the ball after hes proven over and over again he is not a playoff player. Why was this ball not is Kawhi Leonard’s hands? Nick Nurse we need answers. This is for Rucker park not the NBA playoffs, if the Raptors lose this series I imagine Kyle Lowry is getting shipped out immediately. What else could you expect from a man that had a zero point outing in the first round of the playoffs? Toronto could have been up 2-0 going to Philly, instead now Philly has homecourt and in my opinion is favored to win this series. What an absolute jabroni.
Nothing compares to the excitement and intensity of a Game 7. Everyone is tired, everyone knows how much this means and no one wants to go home after battling for two weeks. Obviously every NFL playoff game is go or go home but theres something different about playing the same team 7 times in a row. Thing get chippy things become personal after battling the same guy over and over again. For those three periods or those four quarters or those nine innings nothing else matters.
Then sometimes we get blessed with first round Game 7s, three of them in the NHL this year and I couldn’t imagine the thought of winning and being on such a high just to realize you’ve got three more rounds of this shit. If you dont win tonight the last seven months and 82 games mean absolutely nothing.
I know theres logistics that dont make sense and health concerns but maybe the NFL should look into a 3 game series system. It would mean more profit for the teams and the leagues which, at the end of the day is all that really matters. Playoff golf is incredible but it’s less about you and your opponent and still you against the course which is fine, playoff golf is always exciting. But nothing compares to the agony of defeat or the triumph of victory after two weeks of battle. I would argue getting swept four to nothing is better than losing a game seven. Those go down in history, they cut deep, atleast getting swept means you never had a chance. Losing a game seven changes a man.
The Nets are dead and it’s all Jared Dudley’s fault. You cant call out Ben Simmons and say
“a great player in transition, and average in the halfcourt.”
then come out and scored zero points in 17 minutes on the court. Talk about bulletin board material. It obviously worked since Ben Simmons dropped a smooth 31 on 11 of 13 shooting, a not so average performance.
It doesnt help when you lose by 16 at home when the Sixers dont even have their best player on the floor. Perhaps the Sixers should sit Joel Embiid the entire series let him get as healthy as possible before round two. Maybe all this world ever needed was for someone to piss off Ben Simmons, still wont see him shoot a three but if he can do this everynight he wont need to.
It should be said that if the Nets stand any chance of getting to game 6 or even game 7, three starters cant combine for 17 points. The least amount of points three Sixers starts could have scored was 51. That alone can so easily decide each game in this series. Game 4 is on Saturday.
The news out of Golden State is that DeMarcus Cousins has more than likely torn his quad and will miss the rest of the playoffs and the Warriors are absolutely….. fine. The blown lead in Game 2 doesn’t matter, losing Boogie doesnt matter the Warriors are still going to roll through this series and the series after and the series after. Boogie may have averaged 16 and 8 on the season but he was a defensive black hole.
This might actually end up making the team play better. Not just for the galvanizing factor of win it for your fallen teammate but for the fact that if you arent KD, Steph or Klay just stand under the bucket and get boards. What a life to live only having to play 32 games this year and still getting a ring. The issue here is by signing for the veteran minimum and getting another serious injury how much will Boogie be worth this summer. I guess we can rule DeMarcus out of Space Jam 2.
Playoff games should only be played in primetime. I realize the networks and league probably don’t want all games happening at once for more exposure but when a playoff basketball game ends before 5 p.m. did it even happen? Theres no hype theres no build up, there’s no looking forward to the game all day. Its just getting a notification on your phone and saying “oh look a hockey/ basketball game happened today”. If the Masters didnt tee off early who is tuning into a 1 p.m. Pacers-Celtics game? Not a single soul that’s who. Mid day playoff games feel like regular season baseball games, if I’m sitting on the couch I’ll tune in but it isnt appointment television which all playoffs games should be.
