Ouch. Incase you’re under a rock. Since taking a 3-0 lead over the Blue Jackets the Lightning have been out scored 8-1. This team tied the record for most wins in a season at 62 and now they are potentially 60 minutes away from being in deeeeeeeeep shit.
128 times a playoff team has gone down 2-0 in a series and had to play the next game in the opposing teams barn. They’ve only won 38 times. If Columbus wins one at home which seems very possible. Might as well count the Lightning out at that point they will statistically have a 2.1% chance of winning this series. Which would just add to the narrative that they wear themselves out in the regular season, win the Presidents trophy and then just disappear.
Lucky for them they are arguably one the the best NHL teams of all time and if you want to recall the Capitals were also down 2-0 to the Blue Jackets in the first round. Thing ended pretty well for them.
It’s pretty simple Vasilevsky must play better moving forward .846 save percentage and .815 save percentage just wont cut it in Lord Stanley’s playoffs. If he let’s in an easy one in game 3 it might be time to give him the hook. Otherwise it wont matter what Stamkos or Kucherov do it will be too little too late.
Too all future NHL teams that want to win the Stanley Cup…. DO NOT WIN THE PRESIDENTS TROPHY.
