This weekend the Monster Energy Cup Series roles into Richmond Virginia for 400 laps of Saturday night short track racing. I’ve been to Richmond twice, you need a goddamn GPS to get from the parking lots to the track but the racing is always well worth it.
The first pick which should be a no brainer will be the #18 of Kyle Busch. Kyle is at 2/1 odds so the pay isn’t great but for your fantasy lineup keep in mind he won last week, has three wins on the year and swept both Richmond races last year.
Pick number two also wont be a stretch, the #11 of Denny Hamlin. 10/1 odds, Denny has finished in the top 3 over 10 times at Richmond and its kind of home track for him. Expect a strong showing from the Fedex Team.
Pick number three will be arguably the hottest driver all season the #22 of Joey Logano. 7/1 odds. Joey has plethora of top 5 finishes at Richmond and this year, even a win that was eventually taken away. Penske Racing has had the most dominant cars all year and I don’t expect that to stop this week.
Second to last pick with be the Ganassi machine of Kyle Larson #42. 20/1 odds good money for a guy thats won here before. Larson was also fastest in Fridays practice session and is in need of a breakout performance. This is still the higher horsepower package and the man just seems to live for Saturday night racing.
My fifth and final pick with be a bit of a dark horse. #37 Chris Buescher. 300/1 odds. Now I wont say I expect Chris to win however he ran in the top 5 at Bristol a lot last week and the JTG Daugherty team has their short track program seems looking real strong.
Overall for this race I expect it to be a good one, good handling cars on a short track means to pass you I have to move. We could see some tempers flaring and some hurt feelings. I look forward to it but still believe it will be hard to beat Kyle Busch
